Estancias Around Buenos Aires

Many of the province’s finest estancias are near enough to the city to be seen on a day trip; alternatively if you want to escape for a couple of days and sample estancia life, many offer high quality accommodation, horse-riding, polo lessons and a range of other activities. Many tourist agencies arrange a dia del campo (a day in the country) which usually entails an traditional asado (roast) prepared outside on a roasting spit over an open fire. All the estancias mentioned here are within the province of Buenos Aires and no more than three hours drive, although most are just an hour away. The majority operates websites, so for more detailed information and photographs follow the links.

Estancia El Venado, a family-run working guest ranch, is some 170 km from Buenos Aires set in over 2,500 hectares of pampas grasslands. Offers polo vacations.

Estancia La Candelaria is an impressive French-style chateau with furniture to match. Its grounds were landscaped by French-born Charles Thays. Estancia La Concepcion is just 120 km away from Buenos Aires in Lobos. The mansion house with its own neogothic chapel is surrounded by a landscaped park and set amid 6,000 hectares. Tel: +54 (0) 11 4717 6597.
