Something you wish to say about this page? National Parks(Reads: 1407, 29-Sep-2008)Argentina is privy to the most magnificent natural beauty, hence 28 national parks, countless reserves and protected areas, which cover over three million hectares, across the country. Under the same guise falls the protection of three living species - the Southern Right whale, the huemul (small deer) and the taruca (northern huemul). The parks are looked after by over 200 well-educated and knowledgeable park rangers (guardaparques) and their offices and, in some cases, visitor centers, can be found at park entrances. Many parks have well-established campsites and most have marked trails. It’s always best, especially out of season, to enquire about accessibility and it’s imperative to register in and out of the park, particularly if you plan to go hiking for a few days. The national park network has an informative website (Spanish only) at Parques Nacionales.
