Foz do Iguacu in Brazil, less than 20 km from Iguazu Falls, is a modern sprawling town which has stacks of accommodation and restaurants as well as many clothing outlets, not dissimilar to the Ciudad del Este just across the border in Paraguay. Besides the falls, there is little else to see. Just north of the park entrance is the Parque das Aves where there are lots of examples of native birds or you can visit the world’s largest hydroelectric dam on Lago Itaipu which also has a couple of pleasant beaches. The tourist office on Praca Getulio Vargas 69 has plenty of good maps, hotel listings and general information.
