The small leafy village of San Lorenzo is just 11 km northwest of Salta. It’s a pretty place full of elegant villas and ceibo trees while it also has plenty of places to stay as well as a few good restaurants and cafes. San Lorenzo enjoys a cooler mountain climate which makes it a popular weekend getaway for many Saltenos. Nearby is the Reserva del Huaico set up to protect the native forest and ecosystem and the Quebrada de Areaga and the Quebrada de San Lorenzo where there’s trekking, horseback-riding, mountain biking and even paragliding.
