The best time to visit El Calafate and its surrounding attractions is somewhere between November and April. January and the beginning of February is when the area will have the most visitors - Argentines mainly take their summer holidays in February -so if you’re averse to crowds it would be advisable not to come in these months. December, March, and even April can be good months when things are quieter, services are still open and the weather mild and sunny. That said, El Calafate is attempting to become an all-year round destination. The winters tend to be cold although around the lakes they experience more of a microclimate.
