Tourism Guide / The Lake District / Junin de los Andes
Junin de los Andes(Number of Articles Reads in Junin de los Andes: 0) The peaceful little Patagonian town of Junin de los Andes, undisputedly the trout-fishing capital of Argentina, was founded in the late 19th century and stands beside the lovely Rio Chimehuin. Junin is also close to Parque Nacional Lanin and Volcan Lanin looms majestically in the background near the border with Chile. In mid February the town hosts the Fiesta del Puestero where gauchos compete during the day and folklore music plays by night. There’s a particularly interesting display of Mapuche weavings and other artefacts in the small Museo Salesiano, while Mapuche crafts are for sale in the Feria Artesanal close to the tourist information centre.
