Gaiman

(Number of Articles Reads in Gaiman: 1.450)

The sleepy village of Gaiman just west of Trelew remains one of the most Welsh of the Chubut valley. It is rather oasis-like surrounded by lush green pastures and poplar trees. Along its few streets are small stone cottages, a beautiful chapel and several Welsh tea shops. Little Welsh is spoken although it is undergoing something of a revival and is offered as an option in local schools and an Eisteddfod or Welsh Arts Festival is hosted here each October. The tiny Museo Historico Regional Gales recounts the difficult lives of the first Welsh settlers. Some eight kilometres south is the Parque Paleontologico Bryn Gwyn where you can follow a winding path that passes through 40-million-year-old stratified fossil beds.
