Trelew

(Number of Articles Reads in Trelew: 1.935)

Trelew is one of the largest towns in the province of Chubut and the perfect place from which to explore what remains of its Welsh heritage. It boasts a few Welsh chapels and an impressive paleontology museum, the Mueso Paleontologico Egidio Feruglio. The town itself was named after Lewis Jones, one of the first Welsh pioneers, who helped establish railway connections to Trelew and other towns in the Chubut valley. The Museo Regional Pueblo de Luis explains all about the first Welsh settlers. Each year one of the valley’s most important Eisteddfods is staged in the beautiful Plaza Independencia in the centre of town.
