Bodega La Rural in the satellite town of Maipu just southeast of Mendoza city centre on Montecaseros 2625 was founded in 1885 by Felipe Rutini. And his surname is now one of Argentina’s renowned labels. But La Rural is not just famous for its wines, it also houses the Museo Nacional del Vino in a splendid villa. The museum traces the history of winemaking in a curious display of old equipment, which includes an entire pre-Colombian cow hide.
