Something you wish to say about this page? The Museo Nacional del Vino(Reads: 1652, since 25-Nov-2008)Bodega La Rural in the satellite town of Maipu just southeast of Mendoza city centre on Montecaseros 2625 was founded in 1885 by Felipe Rutini. And his surname is now one of Argentina’s renowned labels. But La Rural is not just famous for its wines, it also houses the Museo Nacional del Vino in a splendid villa. The museum traces the history of winemaking in a curious display of old equipment, which includes an entire pre-Colombian cow hide. The skin used to be filled with grapes, which were then crushed through treading. At the same time the resultant juice would flow out through the neck. Open Mon-Sat 9am-5pm, Sun 10am-2pm. Tel: +54 (0) 261 497 2013.
