The Oktoberfest or Fiesta Nacional de Cerveza, which started in 1964, is undoubtedly one of the most important annual celebrations hosted by the town of Villa General Belgrano in the province of Cordoba, Argentina. The fiesta normally takes place on the first and second weekend in October which coincides with Germany’s harvest. Stands selling typical central European food - particularly German - crafts and, of course, beer fill the Parque Cervecero. Also there are street parades, dances, German music as well as the Reina Nacional de Cerveza (National Queen of Beer) competition. And everyday a bierwagen (beer wagon) passes along the streets serving chopp (draught beer) while there’s a popular contest to see who can down 600ml of beer the fastest from a metre-long tulip glass.
