The 29th Rally Argentina, one of the World Rally Championship's most important races, was staged from 23 April to 26 April 2009 and attracted over one million spectators. Rally Argentina started in 1980 in the province of Tucuman. The championship is now based in Villa Carlos Paz near the university city of Cordoba some 700 km north of Buenos Aires. The three-day rally took place in the Punilla Valley just north of Villa Carlos Paz and in the Sierra mountains to the south west.
