The Museo Historico Provincial Marques de Sobremonte(Reads: 944, since 12-Dic-2008)A block east of Plaza San Martin on Rosario de Santa Fe 218 is the Museo Historico Provincial Marques de Sobremonte. It is the last surviving colonial home in the city of Cordoba, once the private residence of the Cordoban governor, Rafael, Marques de Sobremonte. The house was constructed at the beginning of the 1700s and boasts 26 rooms, five patios and a chapel. The rooms are all furnished with period furniture, not necessarily much of it belonging to the former governor but representative of the late 18th-early-19th centuries. However, one of the museum’s most impressive features is the number of oil paintings on display from the Cusqueña School in Peru, primarily depicting religious figures such as the Feast of King David and the Descent from the Cross. Open Tues-Fri 10am-3pm, Sat 9am-2pm. Tel: +54 (0) 351 433 1661.
