Fishing in north east Argentina on the Esteros del Ibera and on the Rio Corrientes and its nearby deltas, where it meets the Rio Parana, promises to be an unforgettable fishing experience. The Esteros del Ibera are made up of crystal clear rivers, lakes, streams and shallows, which are home to vast quantities of wildlife and fishlife, including the famous freshwater golden salmon, the Dorado (Salminus maxillosus and S. hilarii). The Dorado is a feisty, acrobatic fighter which typically weighs around three to five kilos, but which can weigh up to 15 kilos or more.
